In recent times there has been an increasing demand for people to get informed about the diet & nutrition. Nutrition is very important to keep our body fit and in proper condition. The most popular diet is the low carbohydrate diet. In this diet we need to cut down on the calorie intake. Carbohydrates are the main source of energy for the body. In order to keep our body healthy we need to consume fruits and vegetables which contain a large amount of vitamins and minerals and low in calories.

There are certain foods which are good to eat in excess and there are other foods to be avoided at all cost. In this diet, the intake of junk foods and other such foods like meats, grains etc should be minimized. Instead we should try and consume more foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds. Fruits and vegetables are very essential for our body as they provide us with lots of nutrients apart from providing energy. We should therefore try and consume more fruits and vegetables rather than consuming fried foods, sugar laden foods and other such unhealthy foods.

We should try and consume as much greens as possible in our diet. Fruits and vegetables are rich in nutrients like iron, vitamins and minerals. They are also very good to control blood pressure, cholesterol levels and diabetes. If we consume fruits and vegetables in plenty then there will not be much need to take any kind of drugs and medications for controlling high blood pressure or diabetes. Thus it is better to consume green leafy vegetables in your diet rather than taking any drugs for controlling these two diseases.

People often think that if you have a diet of meat, wheat, grains etc then you do not get enough nutrients. But this is not true in the least. People living in countries where most of the people eat meat and wheat often suffer from poor diet and do not lead a good health. Instead of suffering from a bad diet which leads to diseases, why don’t we try and lead a healthy life by eating a diet which contains more fruits and vegetables.

Another factor to lead a good health is consumption of more fruits and vegetables rather than eating potato, rice and other such grains. The best way to consume more fruits and vegetables is to grow your own vegetables. This way you will know exactly how much vegetables you need to consume on daily basis. You can even make your own salads and use different varieties of vegetables in them. This way you will get all the essential nutrients in your diet and lead a healthy life.

Most of us lead very unhealthy lives and eat foods which are totally junk food. We need to change our lifestyle if we want to live a healthier life and have less weight. Eating out at restaurants and fast food centers are the major reasons of getting obesity because of their excessive calories and unhealthy diet. Instead of eating such foods, what we should do is have regular meals at home. If you do that on regular basis, it will help you control your diet and nutrition.

A regular intake of fruits and vegetables can reduce blood pressure and helps you to control cholesterol levels. A diet high in fruits and vegetables also helps to regulate your appetite. When you consume high fiber foods, your bowel movements will be regular and your absorption of nutrients in the diet will be more regular. Your skin will also be smoother and you will have higher energy levels. These are the benefits you get when you consume a diet high in fruits and vegetables.
